Five arrested on drug charges in Laurel County

Laurel County sherff's deputies arrested five people on various drug charges Tuesday following an investigation.

The Laurel County Sheriff's Department identified the suspects as:

Flora Westfelt, 24, of East Bernstadt, charged with first degree possession of methamphetamine, first-degree wanton endagerment and possession of marijuana. According to deputies, Westfelt was found in a vehicle with methamphetamine in her possession and allegedly was rolling a marijuana cigarette in the presence of two small children

Elvis Proffitt, 37, of East Bernstadt, charged with possession of meth and possession of marijuana.

Juanita Elkins, 36, of London, charged with possession of meth and marijuana.

Lawrence Stevens, 52, of London, charged with first-degree trafficking in methamphetamine.

Roger Isom, 31, of London, charged with possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The suspects were lodged in the Laurel County jail.

All five were arrested about 2 p.m. Tuesday on East Pittsburg Church Road, about a mile north of London, the sheriff's office said.

The two children found at the scene were released into the custody of other family members, according to the sheriff's office.
