June 4, 2014

At Maker's Mark in Loretto, each bottle of bourbon is hand-dipped in the company's distinctive red wax.

Frankfort: The Kentucky Governor’s Mansion gets a rare treat: On Saturday, at a gala celebrating its centennial, the mansion in Frankfort will get a commemorative Maker’s Mark bourbon bottle, with the portraits of eight living Kentucky governors on the label.

At the gala, 100 hand-signed bottles will be auctioned to benefit the upkeep of the mansion.

Governors on the bottle are: Wendell H. Ford, 1971-74; Julian M. Carroll, 1974-79; John

Y. Brown Jr., 1979-83; Martha Layne Collins, 1983-87; Brereton Jones, 1991-95; Paul Patton, 1995-2003; Ernie Fletcher, 2003-07; and Steve Beshear, 2007- present.

Donated by Maker’s Mark, any remaining bottles will be offered for auction at a future Mansion centennial event.
