One person was killed and another was injured in a pickup truck crash in Oswley County, Kentucky State Police said.

The wreck occurred about 4:30 p.m. Sunday on Ky. 30 about four miles east of Booneville, according to the Richmond KSP post.

Police said Dave A. Reed, 15, of Bonneville, was driving east on Ky. 30 when his 1992 Ford Ranger truck crossed the centerline, sideswiping a Dodge Avenger driven by Christopher Richie, 29, of Jackson.

The Ranger then ran off the roadway and struck a tree.

A passenger in the truck, Whitney D. Roberts, 23, of Booneville, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

Reed was flown to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.

State police said it appeared that both Reed and Roberts were wearing seat belts.

An investigation into the wreck is continuing.
