Former University of Kentucky basketball player Steve Masiello spoke to the New York Post for an article published this weekend about the scandal that emerged after it was discovered the Manhattan College basketball coach never graduated from UK despite that claim on his resume.

Masiello had to turn down a job offer from South Florida when its administration discovered the inaccuracy. He was recently reinstated as Manhattan's coach after taking a leave of absence to complete his degree requirements at Kentucky.

“Unless you know me personally, unless you’re around me, if I read this story, if I heard this story, I’d be like, ‘How do you think you graduated?’ ” Masiello told The Post this week, addressing the situation for the first time. “I’d want to know that. How did you think that?”

During the interview, Masiello explains how it was that he actually believed he had graduated from UK.
