Two people were arrested after police found 79 grams of heroin in an on-campus apartment at Eastern Kentucky University.

Catherine Leake, 27, of Bardstown, and Neal Stone, 38, of Richmond were arrested after Berea police executed a search warrant Friday at Brockton Apartments at EKU, according to a Facebook posting by Berea police.

Stone is a junior majoring in paralegal studies, according to the Herald-Leader's reporting partner, WKYT-TV.

In addition to the heroin, officers found digital scales and $520. Someone cooperating with Berea police had used the $520 to buy heroin from Leake and Stone, WKYT reported.

The television station said the heroin in the apartment had a street value of $9,000 to $10,000.

Leake and Stone were taken to the Madison County Detention Center and charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

Leake, who police said tried to hide "a small rock of heroin in her hand" while being booked into the jail, also was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.

Stone was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Berea police said officers from the Richmond Police Department, EKU Police Department and Madison County Sheriff's Office assisted with the case.
