Four people indicted in Floyd County on prescription drug charges

Herald-Leader Staff ReportJune 18, 2014

Four people, three of whom worked at a now-shuttered pain clinic in Floyd County, have been indicted on prescription drug charges.

Yvonda Lazar, 44, Kenneth Lazar, 23, Andrea Kennedy, 26, and Derek Kennedy, 30, were arrested Thursday after being indicted by a Floyd County grand jury June 4 on charges of theft of a prescription blank for controlled substances, obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or deceit, and forgery of a prescription, according to a news release from the state attorney general's office.

All four were taken to the Floyd County jail.

Derek Kennedy was the only one not employed by Commonwealth Quality Medical Management.

The investigation began in 2010, after multiple complaints were received about the pain-management clinic, which has since closed, according to the news release.
