An RV driver lost control on a Madison County road, sideswiped a dump truck, ran through a ditch, and hit a low-hanging tree branch and a rock fence before stopping in the middle of the highway, police said.

James Mullins, 79, of Waynesville, Ohio, was injured Thursday morning when the crash occurred on U.S. 421, according to the Kentucky State Police in Richmond. The investigation is continuing.

Mullins, who was briefly trapped inside his vehicle, was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, and troopers said his injuries were not life-threatening injuries.

The wreck closed U.S. 21 until about 1:15 p.m., state police said.
