Lancaster driver dies after car hits telephone pole

A Lancaster man died Sunday in a one-vehicle crash in Garrard County, Kentucky State Police said.

Jerry Florez, 79, was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner, police said in a news release.

The initial investigation revealed that a 1999 Dodge Intrepid, driven by Florez, was traveling east on Buckeye Road, near Poor Ridge Pike. The vehicle drove off the right side of the road and struck a telephone pole.

The crash happened at about 9 a.m. Sunday.
