Richmond police are investigating the double homicide of a couple found dead in their home Friday.

A family member called police after finding Karen Simpson, 46, and Avery Evans, 42, inside their longtime residence at 109 Valley Street in Richmond at 9:15 p.m., according to a news release from the Richmond Police Department.

Autopsies were conducted Saturday, but Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison said Saturday night that he is not releasing a cause of death at this time.

Assistant police Chief Robert Mott said police did not have information about suspects in the case, and no arrests had been made as of Saturday night.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious around the home over the past couple of days is asked to call Richmond police at (859) 623-1162.
