SummerFest moves to MoonDance

William Shakespeare moves to a new location as SummerFest presents Twelfth Night at the MoonDance at Midnight Pass Amphitheater, 1152 Monarch St. Shows are July 2, 3, 5, 6, 9-13. Gates open at 6:45 p.m., and show begins about 8 p.m. $20 chair provided, $10-$15 bring your own chair, $20-$40 blanket space for four. Up next, Little Shop of Horrors, July 23-Aug. 3.

Four days of celebrating the Fourth


Great American Pie Contest and Ice Cream Social. Noon. Cheapside Park, 251 W. Main St. After the pies are judged, they will be cut and served to the crowd with scoops of ice cream. Free.


Patriotic Music Concert with the 202nd Army Band of the Kentucky Army National Guard. 8 p.m. Transylvania University on the lawn of Old Morrison Building. Free.

TGIFriday, Independence day

■ Bluegrass 10,000 foot race. 7:30 a.m. Through downtown Lexington.

■ Downtown Street Festival. 9 a.m. Arts and crafts, food and beverages, and commercial vendors until 6 p.m. Children's free craft activities 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Billboard lot at Short Street and North Limestone.

■ Parade. 2 p.m. From Midland Avenue down Main Street to Broadway.

■ Downtown fireworks. 10 p.m.


Red, White and Boom concert and fireworks display. Whitaker Bank Ballpark, 207 Legends Ln. 18 musical acts over two days. Sold out.
