Azur Restaurant & Patio is serving campfire-inspired dishes for its Red, White & Bourbon celebration at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The urban camping-themed event, presented with the Lexington Bourbon Society, will feature dishes created by chef Jeremy Ashby. Included are shrimp boil, apple-smoked pork belly with baked beans, wood-fired baked trout with country ham piccata butter, and s'mores bars. Truck is loaded with peaches, headed for Ky.
Peaches from Georgia will be arriving in Central Kentucky next week. Jessica and Stephen Rose own and operate The Peach Truck and transport the fruit from the Pearson Farm in Fort Valley, Ga., to Tennessee and Kentucky.
The couple started The Peach Truck in Nashville, with the idea that people should be able to get fresh Georgia peaches right off the tree.
They traded in their car for an old Jeep truck and began selling the fresh fruit by the bagful; within the first five weeks they sold more than 10 tons of peaches. The Roses don't have a retail space, so they bring the fruit directly to the consumer. Go to Thepeachtruck.com.

Cork & Tap festival makes monthly appearances
Downtown Lexington Corp. has changed the name of the Vintage Kentucky Wine and Beer Festival to Kentucky Cork & Tap. The festival, featuring Kentucky wine and beer, has expanded into a four-night series on the second Friday of the month. The first was in June. Each night features up to five Kentucky wineries, local beers from Lexington's craft breweries, and live music. The remaining events will be 5 to 9 p.m. July 11, Aug. 8 and Sept. 12 at Fifth Third Bank Pavilion at Cheapside Park. Go to Downtownlex.com.
Shepherdsville vineyard becomes first two-at-a-time Ky. cup winner
Wight-Meyer Vineyard and Winery of Shepherdsville became the first Kentucky winery to win the Commissioner's Cup for the top Kentucky wine in more than one category at the 2014 Kentucky Commonwealth Commercial Wine Competition & Commissioner's Cup last month.
Wight-Meyer's vignoles was voted best dry white wine, and its Pine Creek Summer earned honors as best sweet/dessert/fruit wine. Other Commissioner's Cup awards went to the Bourbon Barrel red from Old 502 Winery of Louisville, best dry red wine; StoneBrook Winery of Camp Springs, dry rosé 2013, best rosé/blush wine; and Baker-Bird Winery of Augusta, Kentucky Black Barrel 2012, best boutique (small production) wine. Buffalo Trace takes several medals at L.A. spirits competition
Buffalo Trace Distillery took its whiskey to L.A. and brought home the gold.
The distillery won seven medals at the Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits competition in May. Whiskies earning medals included: Eagle Rare single barrel Kentucky straight bourbon, gold; Buffalo Trace Kentucky straight bourbon, E.H. Taylor single barrel bourbon, Blanton's single barrel bourbon, and Stagg Jr. Kentucky straight bourbon, silver; and 15-year-old Pappy Van Winkle, bronze.
