Former University of Kentucky standout Max Kuhn was 1-for-2 with an RBI double and three runs scored in his debut for short-season Class A Vermont on Wednesday night. Kuhn, who had been promoted from Oakland’s rookie team, helped the Lake Monsters defeat Tri-City 7-6. He also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch.

AJ Reed, another former UK star, had an off night, going 0-for-5 with an RBI for the ValleyCats, a Houston Astros affiliate.

Chris Rusin won his second straight start, pitching seven innings and giving up two runs — one earned — in the Triple-A Iowa Cubs’ 4-3 win against Omaha. The former UK standout is 6-10 with a 3.96 ERA in 16 starts for the Cubs.

Rusin has had plenty of success against the Storm Chasers during his career. He has a 1.96 ERA — 10 earned runs in 46 innings — in seven career starts against the team, according to MiLB.com.

Josh Richmond (U of L) was 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in Double-A Birmingham’s 7-6 win at Chattanooga. He’s batting .259 for the Chicago White Sox affiliate.

Ryan Wright was 2-for-6 with a pair of doubles and an RBI in Double-A Pensacola 4-3 win over Jacksonville in 15 innings. Wright, a Cincinnati Reds prospect, is batting .235 for the Blue Wahoos.
