Laurel County sheriff's deputies have charged a London man with murder in the shooting death of his nephew.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root said deputies arrested Gary Collier, 61, Wednesday night, about four hours after his nephew, Stephen Jack Sturgill, 44, was found dead of a 12-gauge shotgun blast to the chest.

Collier was being held in the Laurel County jail on the murder charge, the sheriff said in a news release.

According to the sheriff's department, an argument apparently broke out between Collier and Sturgill Wednesday afternoon at a mobile home off the right fork of Collier Road, about 10 miles east of London.

Deputies were called about 3:45 p.m. and found Sturgill's body. Sturgill was from Tennessee, officers said.
