Minor-league notes: Littrell wins 5th; Burns hits game-winner; Cousino slugs 2nd HR

Corey Littrell, a former Louisville Trinity and University of Kentucky standout, gave up one run in seven innings in Class A Advanced Salem’s 8-2 victory at Carolina on Sunday.

Littrell, a Boston Red Sox prospect, allowed three hits and two walks and struck out four. He improved to 5-4 with a 3.99 ERA in 16 starts.

Andy Burns, who played two seasons for UK before transferring to Arizona, hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Double-A New Hampshire a 9-7 victory against Trenton.

Burns, a Toronto Blue Jays prospect, finished 3-for-6 and also tripled and scored four runs. He’s batting .242 for the Fisher Cats.

Austin Cousino hit his second home run of the season, a solo shot, in short-season Class A Everett’s 11-5 win against Tri-City. The Mariners prospect is batting .256 with six RBI in 21 games. He also has 10 stolen bases in 11 attempts.

Taylor Rogers (UK) only gave up two runs in seven innings but took the loss when Double-A Portland defeated New Britain 6-1.

Rogers is 7-6 with a 3.91 ERA in 17 starts for the Minnesota Twins affiliate.

Max Kuhn (UK) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in short-season Class A Vermont’s 5-2 win at Connecticut in the second game of a doubleheader. He’s batting .400 (4-for-10) in three games for the Lake Monsters (Oakland A’s).

Fellow former Wildcat Micheal Thomas was 1-for-3 with an RBI in the Tigers’ loss. He’s batting .286 in two games for Connecticut, a Detroit affiliate.

AJ Reed was 2-for-4 and short-season Class A Tri-City completed a sweep of Lowell with an 11-3 win. The Houston Astros prospect is batting .247 and has a .376 on-base percentage.

Cole Sturgeon had a triple and an RBI single for Lowell (Red Sox).

Josh Lueke (Scott, NKU) earned his third save of the season in Triple-A Durham’s 7-5 win over Norfolk. The Tampa Bay Rays minor-leaguer gave up one run, but he had three strikeouts to preserve the victory.

Jack Snodgrass (Bowling Green) lost for the second time this season when Double-A Richmond dropped a 6-2 decision to Reading.

Snodgrass, 8-2 with a 3.39 ERA in 16 games, pitches in the San Francisco Giants’ organization. He gave six runs on 10 hits and no walks on Sunday. He had six strikeouts.

■ The Lexington Legends scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to rally for an 8-7 win at Class A Asheville. Kenny Diekroeger had a two-run double, Frank Schwindel singled in a run and Mauricio Ramos doubled in the other.

Schwindel finished with three hits.

Zach Osborne (PRP) was 0-for-4 for the Tourists. He’s batting .291 for the Colorado Rockies affiliate.

Ryan Wright (U of L) was 3-for-5 in Double-A Pensacola’s 5-4 loss to Mobile. The Cincinnati Reds minor-leaguer is batting. 261.
