A 54-year-old man was charged after Laurel County deputies found marijuana, a gun, and more than $3,000 in cash at his home.

Aaron Simpson was arrested Monday afternoon at his home on Hensley Road, about six miles north of London, according to the Laurel County Sheriff's Department.

Simpson is charged with trafficking in marijuana, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Laurel County jail.

Sheriff John Root said deputies executed a search warrant at Simpson's home about 5:30 p.m. Monday after receiving numerous complaints of drug activity in the area.

They found more than a pound of marijuana, digital scales, plastic bags, a gun, and more than $3,000 in U.S. currency, the sheriff said in a news release. A search dog provided by the Kentucky State Police assisted in the operation.
