Harriett Hendren: Many new artists at this weekend's Berea Craft Festival

More than 100 artists from 15 states will exhibit and sell their work at the Berea Craft Festival, Friday through Sunday at the Indian Fort Theater in Berea.

In addition to area favorites, more than 20 artists will exhibit in Berea for the first time.

The weekend also will feature artist demonstrations such as pottery throwing, vegetable yarn dying, blacksmithing and weaving. Entertainment will include live music and dance. Food and drink vendors will be on site.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $6 for adults. $5 for seniors, free for ages 11 and younger.

■ The Lexington Junior League Charity Horse Show started Tuesday and continues through Saturday at The Red Mile, 1200 Red Mile Road.

Along with daily American Saddlebred competition, the event offers some great shopping with vendors at the Gaited Gallery offering jewelry, clothing and more.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, designer Christian Siriano, winner of the fourth season of Project Runway, will be there for a trunk show along with designer Zang Toi and Glasscock Boutique of Louisville. Items from luxury collections including Carolina Herrera, Escada, Naeem Khan and Valentino will also be available at the event.

■ The Rookwood Pottery Co. will host its Second Saturday event 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at 1209 Jackson Street in Cincinnati. Works by art director Allan Nairn will be on display and the artist will be there to sign pieces and answer questions.

■ The Summer Tent Sale at Você Salon, at 124 Clay Avenue, features 50 to 80 percent off fashions. Jewelry, including designs by Alexis Bittar, is 50 percent off.

■ At this weekend's Athens Schoolhouse Antique Show, 6270 Athens-Walnut Hill Pike, a $500 gift card will be presented on Saturday and Sunday. The card is to be used at the show and winners must be present at the drawing. Hours for the show are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
