The Isaac Murphy Memorial Art Garden at Third Street and Midland Avenue will have its ground-breaking ceremony at 1 p.m. Monday.

The garden will commemorate contributions blacks, including jockey Isaac Murphy, have made in the Thoroughbred industry. It will feature art pieces in Murphy's honor.

The garden will serve as a trail head for the Legacy Trail, which will be a 12-mile paved walking and biking path when completed.

Mayor Jim Gray and the directors of the Issac Murphy Memorial Art Garden are expected to be in attendance.
