Man tried to chew and swallow cocaine to avoid arrest, Danville police say

July 12, 2014

A Danville man is facing several drug-related charges after he tried to chew and swallow a substance that appeared to be cocaine, police said.

Danville police were called to Reno's Roadhouse on Friday night to investigate a drug deal that appeared to have taken place. According to a police statement, officer Chase Broach approached Royce T. Booker in the parking lot of the restaurant, and that's when Booker tried to consume the substance.

Broach used a Taser to subdue Booker, 44, who was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine), tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
