Peace walks beginning at Duncan Park in Lexington will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. July 19, July 26, and Aug. 2.

On Saturday, Lexington police will host the second of four peace walks scheduled for Saturdays during July and August. The walks begin at Duncan Park.

The peace walks are an extension of the "We Care: Our Community, Our Future" initiative that city officials will hope curb a recent rash of violence in Lexington.

Sgt. Rashaan Berry, leader of the initiative, said 350 people attended the walk last weekend, and he said he hopes the number of participants will grow to 700, including many children, on Saturday.

The march will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. at Duncan Park.
