Three people died in a crash in Nicholas County early Saturday.

Aaron Capps, 21, Whitney Morris, 19, and Kyla Haire, 20, were riding in a pickup truck that hit a tree on U.S. 68 West. State police were called at 4:26 a.m.

Capps was driving the Ford F-250 pickup west when he lost control near Walnut Grove Road. The truck hit a tree, then flipped over an embankment, according to a news release from state police. State police said no one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

Nicholas County Coroner Kevin Hatchett said Capps was a firefighter, and both of the women worked at the Carlisle Courier.
