A man told Lexington police he was injured in a machete attack by his former girlfriend and another man Sunday night.

It happened about 10:30 p.m. Sunday at a home on Danielle Lane, police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.

The victim said he heard a knock on his door, answered it, and was immediately assaulted by his ex-girlfriend and another man, Roberts said.

The victim previously had obtained a domestic-violence protection order against the woman, Roberts said.

She said the man allegedly struck the victim several times with a machete, and the man and ex-girlfriend then punched the victim several times.

The victim suffered cuts to his hand, police said.

No arrests had been made Monday. But the two are expected to be charged with second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault and violation of a protective order, Roberts said.
