Lexington police arrested a man and recovered a gun early Tuesday morning after several shots were fired at a parking lot on Saron Drive.

Erick James, 28, faces several charges, including first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree assault, fleeing from police, and resisting arrest, police Lt. Raymond Roller said.

About 1:30 a.m., someone reported to police that shots were fired in the direction of people in the parking lot.

Officers searched the area and arrested James about 45 minutes later in a nearby subdivision, Roller said. They also found the gun nearby, he said.

According to initial reports, the suspect was bitten by a police dog when he tried to flee.
