U.S. 60 in Bath County to close this week

July 22, 2014

A culvert replacement project will require the temporary closure of U.S. 60 west of Owingsville in Bath County Wednesday through Friday morning, according to the Kentucky Department of Highways office in Flemingsburg.

Road crews have been building a new aluminum culvert to replace a deteriorated concrete structure under U.S. 60 at Hurricane Creek. Beginning about 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, crews will cut through the roadway to remove the old structure, and they will use a crane Thursday to set the new culvert in place.

During that time, U.S. 60 will be closed to all traffic at the work site 2½ miles west of Owingsville — from the 4- to 5-mile markers, or about between North Stepstone Road and Bob-O-Link Drive east of the Ky. 1198 intersection. The roadway should reopen by Friday morning.

All through traffic on U.S. 60 should detour using Interstate 64 via Ky. 36 at Owingsville and Exit 113 in Montgomery County.

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
