Former Western Hills and University of Kentucky star J.T. Riddle stayed hot at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three singles and a sacrifice-fly RBI in Class A Greensboro's 7-1 win at Asheville on Friday night.
It was Riddle's fourth three-hit game in his last six and it extended his hitting streak to nine games.
Riddle is 16-for-26 (.615) with three home runs, six RBI and 11 runs scored in his past six games.
The surge has pushed his batting average for the season to .293.
He has eight home runs and 43 RBI in 73 games for the Miami Marlins-affiliated Grasshoppers.
Zach Osborne (PRP) was 1-for-4 with a triple for the Tourists. The Colorado Rockies prospect is batting .269 with 15 RBI in 45 games for Asheville.
■ Matt Reida (UK) hit his first minor-league home run in the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Rays' 6-5 loss to the Orioles.
Reida was 1-for-3 with a pair of walks, two runs scored and a stolen base in addition to the solo shot.
He's batting .338 with three triples, nine RBI, 10 walks and four stolen bases in 20 games.
■ AJ Reed (UK) knocked in the go-ahead run with a fifth-inning single in short-season Class A Tri-City's 9-7 victory against Staten Island. Reed also walked and scored two runs for the ValleyCats, winners of six straight games.
The Houston Astros prospect is batting .295 with four home runs and 26 RBI in 33 games in his first season in the minors.
■ Austin Cousino (UK) walked twice, including once with the bases loaded, in short-season Class A Everett's 3-1 victory against Boise in the first game of a doubleheader. He was batting .268 with five home runs, 16 RBI and 18 stolen bases going into the second game for the Seattle Mariners-affiliated AquaSox.
■ Chris Rusin (UK) gave up three runs in eight innings in Triple-A Iowa's 3-2 loss to Memphis. Rusin, 7-11 with a 3.76 ERA for the Chicago Cubs affiliate, surrendered eight hits and struck out four.
Dean Kiekhefer (Oldham County, U of L) pitched one shutout inning of relief for the Redbirds. He has a 1-3 record with a 2.35 ERA in 25 relief appearances.
