Kentucky graduate Steiner second in Wakeboard Nationals

July 28, 2014

University of Kentucky graduate Cameron Steiner took second place in the Men's 1 division finals at the 25th annual Wakeboard National Championships in Waco, Texas, this past weekend.

Steiner's score of 61.67 in the four-man finals ranked behind only Woody White, who came in at 70.00.

The Wakeboard National Championships feature a collection of the world's top male and female amateur wakeboarders ranging in age from pre-teen to more than 40 years old.

Steiner, who was a member of the wakeboarding club team at UK and has been competing since he was 14, advanced to Friday's finals by winning his heat on Thursday with a score of 66.67.

Wakeboarding has been added as a trial sport at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil.
