Laurel County sheriff's deputies said a man robbed a gas station where he worked, and the attendant he robbed apparently is his brother.

Sheriff's officials said Phillip Thomas, 36, of the Livingston community in Rockcastle County, was arrested Wednesday afternoon after turning himself in to Mount Vernon police.

Thomas is charged with first-degree robbery in connection with a holdup Tuesday at a Spur gas station off exit 49 on Interstate 75 in Laurel County.

According to deputies, a man entered the service station about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, stated that he had a gun, and then ran off after robbing an attendant.

According to a news release from the Laurel County sheriff, Thomas is an employee at the gas station, and the attendant who was robbed is his brother.

Thomas was being held in the Laurel County jail after being picked up in Mount Vernon, the sheriff's department said.
