Two men have entered not-guilty pleas to murder charges stemming from a fatal shooting in Lexington in February.

Jaronn Montero Nickerson, 22, and Lamarius Taquann Gates, 20, entered pleas Thursday in Fayette Circuit Court. Nickerson also is charged with being a persistent felony offender.

The two are charged in the shooting of Vincenzo Happy, who died at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital after being shot while sitting in his car at a shopping center on Lima Drive, off Georgetown Street.

A year earlier, Vincenzo had been wounded in a shooting that left another man dead in a parking lot outside Eastland Bowling Lanes. Steven Reynolds was killed in that shooting, and two other men were hurt.
