A Knox County woman was arrested on a charge of shooting her neighbor during a dispute, Kentucky State Police said.

Gwendolyn Smith, 43, of the Gray community, was being held in the Knox County jail on a charge of first-degree assault, according to police at the Harlan post.

Police said Smith got into an argument with her neighbor, Jason Marsee, 43, pulled out a handgun and shot him in the leg.

Marsee was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, but there was no word on his condition, police said.

The shooting, which happened about 8 p.m. Thursday, remains under investigation.
