Two men in Leslie County injured by buckshot fired from shotgun

Herald-Leader Staff ReportAugust 1, 2014

The Leslie County Sheriff's Office is investigating the Thursday night shooting of two men.

Josh Slusher and Derrick White, whose ages and addresses were not available, were taken to a hospital in Hazard for treatment, Deputy Sheriff David Benton said.

Both men had been injured with buckshot fired from a shotgun, Benton said. Slusher had shotgun pellets in the back of his head and neck, and White had pellets across his back, the back of his head and his side. Benton said he didn't know their conditions.

The shooting happened between 8 and 8:30 p.m. Thursday on Bowen Creek Road about 12 miles southeast of Hyden, the county seat, Benton said.

No arrests had been made as of 3:30 p.m. Friday, but Benton said the investigation is open and he anticipated that arrests would made.
