A man was injured in a crash between a moped and a car on Leestown Road Saturday night.

The crash happened at about 10 p.m. just past the intersection with Locust Farm Road. Leestown Road was expected to be shut down for some time, said Lexington police Sgt. Josh Yahr.

He said the police collision reconstruction unit was called to investigate, but it appeared that the car had hit the moped from behind.

Yahr said the condition of the rider of the moped "looks serious so far, but we don't know with certainty yet."

While being transported to the hospital via ambulance, the man was said to be unresponsive, and emergency crews described the situation as a "trauma red alert."
