Kentucky State Police are trying to identify human remains that were discovered Sunday night in the Daniel Boone National Forest.

Troopers from the Morehead post were called to a wooded area of Ky. 799 in northern Rowan County at 8:45 p.m. after a mushroom hunter found a skull and clothing, public affairs officer Joe Veeneman said.

Police will try to determine what happened and hope to make an identification through dental records, he said.
