Man being questioned after woman shot in the face in Lexington, police say

Lexington police arrested a man in connection with the early Wednesday morning shooting in which a woman was shot in the face.

Darien Tichenor, 19, of Lexington was charged with first-degree assault and lodged in the Fayette County jail.

Shortly before 4 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Snow Road off Alumni Road where they found a young woman shot in the face, said Lexington Police Lt. Mark Brand. The woman was treated for a non-life-threatening injury at a local hospital, Brand said.

The woman, whose name was not released, was shot as she sat in a car, Brand said.

Tichenor was taken into custody on Fenwick Road.
