Man is found near Blackburn Street after shooting

August 9, 2014

Lexington police are investigating a shooting early Saturday morning that sent a man to a local hospital.

Around 3:30 a.m., police were dispatched to a report of shots fired on West Second and Old Georgetown streets near the Jazz Bar, said police Lt. Mark Brand said.

An officer found a man walking near Blackburn Street who said he'd been approached by three or four men and then shot. Television reports said the victim was shot in the back, but Brand didn't have that information.

The man was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Brand said.
