Staff, wire reportsAugust 10, 2014

A Carroll County man who allegedly tried to rob a New Castle bank was arrested after a customer pinned him against a wall and held him until police arrived. Corey Washburn, 21, of Carrollton, was standing behind another customer inside the United Citizens Bank while a transaction involving a large amount of cash took place at the counter, according to a news release from state police.

Washburn reached over the customer’s shoulder, grabbed the cash and tried to run. State police said the customer grabbed Washburn, pushed him against a wall and held him there until state police arrived. He was being held in the Shelby County Detention Center Saturday night on a charge of first-degree robbery.
