Tennessee woman dies in crash in Harlan County

A Tennessee woman died Sunday in a traffic crash in Harlan County, Kentucky State Police said.

Laura Beth Spencer, 25, of Piney Flats, TN., was pronounced dead at the crash scene on Highway 221 E near the Bledsoe community, the Harlan KSP post said.

The crash occurred about 12:25 p.m. Sunday, according to police.

Troopers said Spencer was traveling west when she apparently lost control of her 1998 Toyota Camry, ran off the road and struck a tree. The car came to rest on its top in a stream.

The victim was not wearing a seat belt, according to police.

An investigation into the crash is continuing.
