Police seek escapee from Blackburn Correctional Complex

Officials at Blackburn Correctional Complex are looking for an inmate who walked away from the minimum-security prison Saturday.

John Stamper, 48, was confirmed missing at about 9:30 p.m., according to a news release.

Stamper was serving a five-year sentence for convictions out of Madison County, including burglary II and receiving stolen property.

He would have been eligible for release on Oct. 1, 2015.

Stamper is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
