Cooper & Kings American Brandy Co. in Louisville has invited Kentucky and Indiana craft brewers to combine forces for a festival of brandy-barrel-aged beer.

"Lock, Stock & Smoking Barrels" is scheduled for Sept. 20 during Louisville Craft Beer Week at the Butchertown distillery.

Copper & Kings owners Joe and Lesley Heron asked regional breweries to age a one-of-a-kind craft beer of their choice in brandy barrels to serve at the event, to go with two dozen craft beers, single-barrel brandy tasting, Feast barbecue and music.

Participating brewers include Against the Grain, Alltech Lexington Brewing Co., Beer Engine, Bluegrass Brewing Co., Country Boy, Falls City, Flat 12, Gordon Biersch, Great Flood, New Albanian and West Sixth.

The cost is $45 a person for each session, or $15 for a designated driver ticket that is food only.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Beargrass Creek Alliance and promote rain barrel stormwater mitigation initiatives.
