Kentucky football target Richardson on national TV Friday

One of the University of Kentucky's top football recruiting targets gets an opportunity to play on the national stage Friday night.

Three-star wide receiver Tavin Richardson and Byrnes High School (S.C.) will face Northwestern (S.C.) in the opening game of the 2014 High School Football Kickoff at 6 p.m. on ESPNU. There will be a total of 10 high school football games on ESPN networks this weekend.

Richardson — a 6-foot-3, 212-pound prospect — recently announced a top five of Kentucky, Louisville, Central Florida, Nebraska and Virginia Tech. He told the Herald-Leader this month that UK is the No. 1 school on his list.

UK's coaches have also made Richardson a top priority. Wide receivers coach Tommy Mainord — his primary recruiter — and offensive coordinator Neal Brown have both made multiple trips to see him in South Carolina. Richardson said UK's coaches are telling him he's their No. 1 remaining target at wide receiver.

He is scheduled to take his official visit to UK on Dec. 13.

The Wildcats already have commitments from class of 2015 wide receivers Alex Stump and Jabari Greenwood. Both of those players will play on ESPNU later this season.
