A 31-year-old man was struck by a train Friday morning between Southland and Pasadena drives, Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn said.

Ginn said he had identified the man but had not located his relatives as of Friday night.

About 6:30 a.m., an operator from the Norfolk Southern train company reported that he thought he had struck a person, police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.

Ginn said that the death is being investigated as an accident, but that investigators were trying to determine whether the man died before the train struck him.
