18-year-old drowns in Adair County pond

An 18-year-old who was pulled unresponsive from a pond in Adair County died early Tuesday at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

David Hernandez-Garcia, of Jamestown, had been fishing with friends when he fell out of a kayak and drowned, according to a news release from the Fayette County coroner's office.

The incident happened at a farm on Gentry Mill Road in Columbia at 5:48 p.m. Monday, according to the release. Hernandez-Garcia was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to UK, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room at 1:07 a.m. Tuesday.
