Lazarus R. Parker

A Lexington man was indicted on a murder charge last week in a 2012 shooting on Dakota Street.

Lazarus R. Parker, 32, is charged in the death of 31-year-old Brian Lee Hodge, according to Fayette County Circuit court documents dated Aug. 26. Hodge was found shot at Seventh and Dakota streets on Aug. 12, 2012, and died at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

Parker was arrested and charged on June 18. There have been limited details about how police were led to Parker and the motive behind the shooting. In addition to murder, Parker was charged with tampering with physical evidence. That charge was dismissed by a grand jury last month. Parker was being held in the Fayette County Detention Center on a $500,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
