Appalachian girls' all-star game to be played Friday

A girls' basketball all-star doubleheader involving players from regions 12-16 will be played Friday night at Leslie County High School in Hyden. The inaugural Appalachian Girls All-Star Basketball Classic will match teams of underclassmen at 6 p.m. followed by a game involving seniors at about 7:30.

Seniors scheduled to play include Caitie Jackson (North Laurel), Kourtney Tyra (Jackson County) and Devin Fothergill (Southwestern) for the South squad and Shae Ferguson (Elliott County), Merissa Pruitt (Phelps) and Breanna Salyer (Johnson Central) for the North.

In the underclassmen game, players scheduled include Kendall Noble (Breathitt County), Hillary Moore (Leslie County), Whitney Jackson (Clay County) and Jessica Dean (South Laurel) for the South and Kaylyn Emmons (Fleming County) and Carla Booth (Sheldon Clark) for the North.
