No. 6: Kentucky 78, Utah 69

Mark Story recounts UK's 25 most memorable basketball games since the 1983-84 season.

Herald-Leader Sports Columnist Mark Story has looked back at Kentucky basketball games since the 1983-84 season, when the Herald-Leader began its electronic archive, and has selected his top 25 most memorable games. One game will be revealed each day until Nov. 11. Check each day to see where your favorite game was ranked.

No. 6: Kentucky 78, Utah 69 (NCAA Tournament championship game: March 30, 1998 in the Alamodome, San Antonio)

Mark Story's comment: Cementing their place in UK lore, The Comeback Cats of Jeff Sheppard, Nazr Mohammed and Scott Padgett rallied from 10 down at halftime to make Tubby Smith the fourth different Kentucky coach to win an NCAA championship.

Excerpt from the original game story: First-year Coach Tubby Smith, who was criticized for his team's inability to win big, seemed stunned. "I kept asking Coach (C.M.) Newton, have we really won the national championship?" he said. "I guess I need someone to pinch me."
