Cats pass NCAA's academic test
All 22 of the University of Kentucky sports teams surpassed the target score in the NCAA's fourth annual Academic Progress Rate report, and thirteen of the school's 22 programs exceeded the national average for public universities in their sports.
The NCAA target score for each sport is 925 out of a possible 1,000 points. The women's swimming team led the way for UK with a score of 986. The women's basketball team scored 972, football scored 943, and men's basketball scored 941.
"The athletes and coaches worked hard at it," said Mitch Barnhart, UK director of athletics, adding that UK is "concentrating on making sure we handle our academic performance."
No UK teams will be subject to academic sanctions this year.
