Bears: Brian Urlacher checked into Chicago's training camp Tuesday night with a new contract.
The six-time Pro Bowl linebacker signed a one-year extension earlier in the day and the deal is reportedly worth $18 million. The new deal extends the contract through 2012.
”It feels good because I did have four years left on my contract, we all know that. They didn't have to do anything; that was obviously a nice deal they offered me,“ Urlacher said.
Texans: Houston signed three draft picks Tuesday, including former Eastern Kentucky cornerback Antwaun Molden and ex-West Virginia running back Steve Slaton, and their fifth-round choice. Terms weren't released.
Molden, selected 79th, finished his college career with three interceptions and three fumble recoveries.
Chargers: Defensive end Luis Castillo agreed Tuesday to a five-year contract extension through 2014 valued at about $43 million. The deal will pay Castillo a guaranteed $17.5 million in signing and roster bonuses.
”You know I am not usually short of words but today is different,“ Castillo said. ”It's an unbelievable feeling.“
Castillo has 13 sacks in 36 career games, including 33 starts.
Rams: Seven-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Orlando Pace is close to returning from a shoulder injury, but he will not be cleared for full contact at the start of training camp. Rams Coach Scott Linehan said Tuesday the team would be conservative with Pace, who tore the labrum and rotator cuff in his right shoulder in the second quarter of the 2007 season opener against Carolina.
Patriots: Offensive lineman Nick Kaczur pleaded guilty Tuesday to speeding in a deal with prosecutors that will put a misdemeanor drug possession charge on hold.
According to police reports, Kaczur had 202 OxyContin pills labeled as made in Canada when he was pulled over April 27 by state troopers near Utica, N.Y.
