Final furlong
Kentucky Derby hopeful Tale of Ekati worked a half-mile at Keeneland in :49.20 Thursday morning. He's the winner of the Wood Memorial, where he defeated War Pass. Eibar Coa will ride Tale of Ekati in the Derby.
Kodiak Kowboy, at one time a Derby hopeful, now is being pointed instead to the Derby Trial April 26. He recently ran fourth in the Lafayette Stakes at Keeneland.
Kentucky Oaks contenders training at Keeneland include Country Star (fifth in the Ashland), Eight Belles (winner of the Fantasy at Oaklawn), Golden Doc A (2nd in the Stonerside Beaumont), Highest Class (third in the Bonnie Miss at Gulfstream), and Little Belle (winner of the Ashland).
Jockey Kent Desormeaux was on fire Thursday, winning three races in a row: the third, fourth, and fifth, and then getting his fourth winner in the final race of the afternoon.
