Eddie Wide rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns and No. 23 Utah scored all its points in the first half and coasted to a 38-7 win over San Diego State Saturday.

The Utes (9-2, 6-1 MWC) bounced back after losing 55-28 on the road to No. 4 TCU a week before to earn their 17th consecutive home win, extending the third-longest home winning streak in the nation behind Oklahoma (28) and Boise State (24).

Freshman Jordan Wynn completed 14 of 28 passes for 198 yards and a touchdown. Jereme Brooks caught seven passes for 100 yards. Fellow wideout David Reed, who grabbed five receptions for 83 yards, became the sixth player in Utah history to compile more than 1,000 receiving yards in a season.

Ryan Lindley was 17 of 37 for 207 yards and connected with Dominique Sandifer for a 17-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter for San Diego State (4-7, 2-5).

Utah's first touchdown drive took two plays and 23 seconds. Wynn connected with Reed for a 44-yard reception on the first play and then Wide ran it to the end zone from 8 yards out on the next snap. The Utes didn't find much more resistance the rest of a dominating first half.

C.J. Spiller scored a touchdown Saturday in his final game at Death Valley and No. 18 Clemson beat Virginia 34-21 on the day the Tigers wrapped up their first trip to the Atlantic Coast Conference title game.

The Tigers (8-3, 6-2 ACC) won their sixth straight game, but had the Atlantic Division wrapped up as they kicked off thanks to North Carolina's 31-13 victory against Boston College.

Clemson will face Coastal division winner Georgia Tech in two weeks at Tampa, Fla.

Spiller had a 4-yard touchdown run and set the ACC's single-season all-purpose yardage mark, surpassing the 2,059 of Virginia's Thomas Jones in 1999.

Virginia (3-8, 2-5) kept things close in the first half, its 21 points more than it had put up in any of its previous five games. However, the Cavaliers were shut out the final 30 minutes and lost their fifth straight.

No. 2 Alabama's Javier Arenas set a Southeastern Conference record with his seventh punt return for a touchdown.

Arenas sprinted down the right sideline for a 66-yard score early in the second quarter of Saturday's game against Chattanooga.

He was tied with Kentucky's Derek Abney, who returned six punts for scores from 2000-03. Abney also scored on a two kick returns, leaving Arenas still one TD shy of the overall record for returns.

Arenas also came into the game just 105 yards behind Vanderbilt's Lee Nalley's SEC record of 1,695 career punt return yards. He is within range of the NCAA record of 1,761 yards set by Texas Tech's Wes Welker.

About a dozen hooded Ku Klux Klan members rallied briefly at the University of Mississippi before Saturday's football game with No. 10 LSU.

The members of the Mississippi White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan spent about 10 minutes waving flags, displaying Nazi-style salutes and occasionally gesturing at a group of about 250 hecklers that included young children. They were protesting the school's decision to drop a pep song that included "Dixie."

Some fans had been ending the song by chanting, "The South will rise again." Chancellor Dan Jones asked the band to stop playing the song after fans ignored a request to drop the chant.

The Klan said it was protesting over lost Southern symbolism at Ole Miss, which has been rocked by racial strife before.

Twenty-year-old Hakim Muhammad entered the plea Friday in Rockville Superior Court on a charge of conspiracy to commit assault.

Prosecutors say Muhammad, of Bloomfield, Conn., and his friend and co-worker, 21-year-old John William Lomax III, were involved in a minor altercation with others outside a university sanctioned dance early Oct. 18.

The suspects allegedly went back to Lomax's car and returned with knives.

The Rose Bowl is out of reach for Penn State and Michigan State.

But Saturday's regular-season finale will have a lot to do with determining where both Big Ten teams spend their holidays.

No. 13 Penn State (9-2, 5-2 Big Ten) still has a shot at earning an at-large Bowl Championship Series bid, one of several possible postseason scenarios for Joe Paterno's program. Michigan State (6-5, 4-3) also is bowl eligible and would guarantee a bid with a victory at Spartan Stadium.

The Big Ten has seven bowl-eligible teams. Michigan would become the eighth if the Wolverines are able to upset Ohio State on Saturday.

A Michigan victory also would give Penn State - along with Iowa and Wisconsin - a chance to grab a share of the Big Ten title with Ohio State. The Buckeyes already have sewn up the Big Ten's automatic BCS bid.

The Game has lost a lot of luster.

Ohio State has beaten Michigan five straight times, its best winning streak and the longest in the series since the 1920s.

The ninth-ranked Buckeyes (9-2, 6-2 Big Ten) have already clinched at least a share of their fifth straight conference title and a spot in the Rose Bowl.

Michigan (5-6, 1-6) is mired in another miserable year - coming off a school-record nine-loss season - and is nearly a two-touchdown underdog to lose Saturday at home to guarantee consecutive losing records for the first time since 1962-63.
Ohio State coach Jim Tressel, though, insisted those factors haven't diminished the rivalry.

University of Michigan president Mary Sue Coleman did not make herself available to answer questions following a Board of Regents meeting Thursday in which an internal audit of the school's football program practice time was on the agenda.

Coleman quickly slipped through a door after the meeting was adjourned. Spokesman Kelly Cunningham said Coleman would not address an ongoing NCAA investigation into whether Michigan's football program exceeded mandated practice limits last year.

"She supports the coach and she supports the football team," Cunningham said.
Cunningham also said Coleman would not address any other athletic-related matters.
