BETHESDA, Md. . Jeff Overton doesn't feel like a different player than the guy who couldn't make it to the weekend on the PGA Tour over the past two months. Funny how seeing the ball go in the hole changes everything.

Overton continued his one-week turnaround Friday with a 5-under 65, giving him a share of the lead with Tom Pernice Jr. in the AT.T National before storms rained on the Fourth of July atmosphere at Congressional and interrupted the second round.

Overton and Pernice, who matched the course record on a soft, still day at Congressional with a 63, were at 9-under 131.

Anthony Kim, living up to his billing as the next young threat in golf, appeared poised to catch the leaders until a 1. -hour storm delay that slowed his momentum. A bogey on the par-5 ninth gave him a 67, three shots behind with Cliff Kresge (65).

BETHESDA, Md. . Steve Marino used to consider it a treat the few times he played Congressional as a teenager. It was a thrill on Thursday to play bogey-free in the first round of the AT.T National and shoot 5-under 65 for a one-shot lead.

Marino, who grew up a half-hour away in Fairfax, Va., birdied three of his opening four holes, never had a par putt longer than 5 feet and finished off his round with an 8-foot birdie to be in the lead after a round for only the second time in his career.

.I played a bunch of junior golf growing up here, all over the D.C. area, so it feels great to get off to this good start,. Marino said. .And I'm looking forward to the rest of the week..

It's already been a big week for Jeff Overton and Frank Lickliter, who were among those at 66.

GRAND BLANC, Mich. . Kentucky, Kenny Perry is coming home.
Perry shot a 6-under 66 on Sunday to win the Buick Open by a stroke at 19 under, likely locking up a spot on the Ryder Cup team that will face Europe at Valhalla about 40 miles from his birthplace.

.I'm ecstatic,. he said. .It really won't sink in until I'm actually putting on the red, white and blue..
EDINA, Minn. . Stacy Lewis is making her professional debut one to remember.

Nineteen days after she turned pro, Lewis showed the poise of a veteran Saturday at Interlachen with no bogeys and a 6-under 67 that gave her a one-shot lead over Paula Creamer going into the final round of the U.S. Women's Open.

Lewis, a former NCAA champion at Arkansas, might have been the only one not surprised to see her name atop the leader board.

.I've accomplished my goal for the week,. Lewis said. .It was just to put myself in contention. And whatever happens tomorrow, it happens. I hope I win. I want to win ... probably more than anybody here. But I have to hit a lot of good golf shots before I win this golf tournament..

Eduardo Romero didn't hesitate when asked about the significance of his second triumph on the Champions Tour.

"For Romero, it's another victory," the Argentine player said Sunday after winning the Dick's Sporting Goods Open by one shot. "But for the country, it's a new victory for the youngest players. Golf is growing up and up and up. This is very important for Latin America, especially Argentina."

Romero, who never won on the PGA Tour but has more than 90 victories worldwide, had a closing 3-under 69 to beat Fulton Allem (69) and Gary Koch (65) for his first triumph since the 2006 Tradition. Romero finished at 17-under 199, equaling the score recorded by R.W. Eaks a year ago in the inaugural event.

"I'm working hard for this victory," Romero said. "After my first victory, I played so well but no victories. I think it was time to retire sometimes. But it's not. I'm ready again. Finally, it's coming because I'm working hard. I'm really, really happy."
Crowd favorite Joey Sindelar was one shot off the lead entering the final hole, but his tee shot sailed into the right trees and he made double bogey to finish fourth at 14-under 202, his fourth top-five finish in nine events since turning 50 in March and joining the Champions Tour.

It was the 23-year-old American's second career PGA Tour title, the first coming just two months ago when he claimed the Wachovia Championship by five shots at tough Quail Hollow.

This week's venue was Congressional, which will host the 2011 U.S. Open, and the talented Kim finished with a 12-under 268 total.

That bettered by three strokes K.J. Choi's winning score from last season, the first year of Tiger Woods' tournament.

Ross Fisher's biggest challenge came from the rain, not the field, as he closed with a four-under 68 on Sunday to win the European Open by seven shots.
Fisher played most of the round in a pesky rain, but finished in the sunshine with a hole-out birdie from a bunker beside the 18th green for a runaway victory over world No. 8 Sergio Garcia.

It was the 27-year-old Englishman's second European Tour win and first since last year's KLM Open. He claimed it in wire-to-wire fashion after opening with a course-record 63 at London Golf Club on Thursday, finishing at 20-under-par 268.
"Delighted," Fisher said afterward, his victory having long been locked up.

After a weekend of optimal scoring conditions, Seon Hwa Lee made one birdie on the back nine in the final round.

That was enough.
Lee birdied the final hole for a one-stroke victory over Jane Park and Meena Lee on Sunday in the LPGA Tour's NW Arkansas Championship. Seon Hwa Lee closed with a 4-under 68 to finish at 15-under 201.
Meena Lee (70) led by a stroke before coming up short of the green on the par-3 17th. Her chip was long, and she missed a par putt from about 10 feet.
Seon Hwa Lee, playing in the group just ahead, hit her approach on No. 18 within 3 feet, setting up a birdie that she thought might put her in a playoff.

BETHESDA, Md. . Tom Pernice Jr. was easy to ignore Saturday in the AT.T National until he wound up in the lead.

All he did was make 15 pars on an explosive afternoon of birdies and bogeys at Congressional, and his lone complaint was that he made only two putts longer than his shadow. One was from 4. feet for par, another from 7 feet for birdie.

But it was that steady hand that gave him a 1-under 69 and a one-shot lead over Steve Stricker, leaving the 48-year-old Pernice optimistic about winning for the first time in seven years.

.It will be interesting to see how it goes tomorrow,. Pernice said. .But I'm looking forward to it..
