Eight disciplines will be featured at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington from Sept. 25 to Oct. 10, 2010.

• Show Jumping: Horses must jump a course of between 10 and 13 jumps without knocking down any part of the fence or going slower than the time allowed.

• Dressage: This performance includes collected and extended walk, trot, and canter; trot and canter half-pass; passage (a slow-motion trot); piaffe (a trot in place); canter "zigzags"; and pirouettes.

• Eventing: Takes place over three days with three phases: dressage, cross-country and show jumping.

• Driving: Held for teams of four horses. Two days dedicated to dressage, one to marathon, and the last to driving an intricate course marked by cones.

• Endurance: Horses must run a 160-kilometer course in the shortest time possible. In addition to the titles of individual and team champion, the Veterinary Commission will elect the horse in "best condition" from the 10 fastest.

• Vaulting: Gymnastics on a moving horse.

• Reining: A judged event designed to show the athletic ability of a ranch-type horse. Contestants are required to work one of 10 approved patterns including small slow circles, flying lead changes, 360-degree spins and sliding stops.

• Para-equestrian: Will be held for dressage riders with disabilities as part of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in 2010.
