About the series

In early July, Herald-Leader reporter Linda Blackford and photographer David Stephenson traveled to Aachen, Germany, and Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, to visit the most recent sites of the World Equestrian Games. They went to see what opportunities and challenges await Lexington and its own Games in 2010.

Blackford traveled on a World Affairs Journalism Fellowship administered by the International Center for Journalists. The fellowship is funded by the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation.
